Chemical Peel Denver
Chemical peels treat fine lines and wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, acne or acne scars, sun-damaged skin, age spots, freckling and scarring
What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel is a skin treatment procedure used for skin rejuvenation on the face (face peel), neck (neck peel) and hands (hand peel) to stimulate the production of new skin cells. Chemical peels use a liquid peeling agent to remove dead skin cells, promote skin rejuvenation and skin tightening. At the Aesthetics by Design medical spa and skin care clinic highly qualified and experienced medical aestheticians will properly assess your skin care needs and recommend the best skin peel for you. A chemical peel is one of the least invasive ways to improve the appearance of your skin and an essential part of any good clinical skin care program.
Who can benefit from a chemical peel?
Skin peels can help improve the skin of virtually anyone. They effectively treat the following: fine lines and wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, acne or acne scars, sun-damaged skin, age spots, freckling and scarring. People suffering from sun exposure damage, fine lines and wrinkles or acne will find this treatment especially beneficial. The best results are seen after a series of peels, designed specifically for you and your skin’s changing needs. Ideally, this should also include an at home skin care program. The chemical peel is a wonderful way to produce a subtle yet visibly healthier appearance with minimum risk involved.
Understanding a chemical peel
All of the chemical peel procedures at Aesthetics by Design medical spa Denver are performed by a certified and experienced medical aesthetician. The chemical peel procedure involves as series of steps. First, the appropriate type of peel best suited to your specific skincare goals and situation is chosen. Then, the skin is prepared using either an enzyme mask or by dermaplaning to allow for penetration by the chemical peel solution. The selected chemical agent is then applied, which causes the skin to exfoliate. After a designated time, the peeling agent is neutralized and washed off. Lastly, topical healing agents and sun block are administered. Over the next several days, the upper skin layers heal to leave a regenerated, more evenly colored, smoother skin surface.
At Aesthetics by Design Denver skin care clinic, we use a variety of different superficial chemical peeling agents from the Glytone Enerpeel® system including: glycolic acid (Enerpeel GA), salicylic acid (Enerpeel SA), mandelic acid (Enerpeel MA) and pyruvic acid (Enerpeel PA). We also offer a combination superficial peel system from Dermaceutic, the “Milk Peel” (lactic acid, glycolic acid, salicylic acid) system that excels at skin reujuvenation. Superficial peels are considered light peels, which have little to no downtime. A light peel will restore a bright youthful appearance to your skin with essentially no down-time. If you are looking for a deeper chemical peel, we perform medium depth peels, using either trichloroacetic (Enerpeel TCA) or Jessner’s Peels (Enerpeel JR) from Glytone. A medium depth peel is used in patients with more advanced aging and will require roughly one week of healing time. For sun spots and pigmented skin the VI Precision Plus Peel from VI Aesthetics is an excellent solution. All the peels stimulate the cells present in skin resulting in the rejuvenation of new, healthier skin. Whether you choose a superficial peel or a medium depth peel, our experienced staff members will ensure that you achieve optimal outcomes for your desired skin care result.
What to expect during and after a chemical peel
Having a chemical peel is a minor procedure with little to no downtime. Depending on the depth of the peel, you may experience a minor degree of burning or tingling during and immediately following the peel. It is important to follow all of the after-care instructions that our skin care clinic aestheticians provide to maximize healing and prevent any complications such as hyperpigmentation.
